So Anthony Pontius was telling me about Kris Kuksi’s work this weekend, and after going to his website, I’m really impressed. These are disturbingly beautiful, well thought out, and labor-intensive pieces.

Check out her shows on breakthruradio. All the shifts are archived so you can catch up on her back playlists. She finds all sorts of music for her multiple shows from cutting edge to eclectic to even teenage bands on “all access”. Anyway you won’t be disappointed giving her a little of your listening time. Oh, and also she’s one pretty amazing musician and composer.

A Good Cause

A lovely friend of mine, Philippa P. B. Hughes is the founder of the Pink Line Project which fosters intellectual and artistic innovation through programs and events that are fueled by the transformative power of art. Pink Line is hosting a Happy Hour Fundraiser for Pediatric Aids – HIV Care on Wed. June 25, from 6-8pm at the 18th St. Lounge (1212 18th St., NW, Washington, DC). There’s to be amazing video art and also live music by Ben Gilligan (from French Toast and Small Doses). It’s a great cause so I hope that everyone can make it there.

Barnaby Whitfield

He’s back! This is just a taste of the new series Barnaby Whitfield’s currently working on. My great-grandfather was a beekeeper, so the current plight of our little honey making friends is near and dear to my heart. Barnaby, I think this is going to be a beautiful new story.

Oh childhood

Thoughts of “Tales of the Gold Monkey” wandered into my mind. Wish I could go back to that simpler time of having my heart stolen by Jake Cutter (Stephen Collins) and Bon Chance Louis (Roddy McDowell). Oh and not to forget Jack the dog with the eye patch.

I’m behind the times

but I finally saw Paris, je t'aime last night. I’m a flat out romantic and fell hard for Montmartre and Bastille. The majority of the vignettes are wonderful. I laughed, some tears fell, and had my heart broken all in the same night. Oh, and now I have a thing for Bruno Podalydès.

Furry Foodies

I know I’ve been bad. I’ve been neglecting the blog, but getting a gallery ready to open is a lot of work. As soon as we’re open, I’ll be back to normal posting. One fun thing I have gotten to do this week, outside of painting and setting up, is going to see a truly delightful film. Ratatouille combines a few of my favorite things…good food, furry rodents, the beautiful city of Paris, animation, and Peter O’Toole. Go and see it. It will make you smile. Take special note of Anton Ego. He may remind you of a few people

This man has been on my mind a lot lately. You can catch a solo exhibition of his work in Venice through September 23rd (details below). I absolutely fell in love with his work many years ago, when I was doing a website called studio-visit.com which no longer exists. (He was the last interview for my site.)
